In the fall of 2002, the City & County of Denver's junior golf program became the first operational First Tee chapter in Colorado.

Growing!

The First Tee of Denver has three junior courses. Chubb’s 4-hole course at City Park golf course, Katie’s 4-hole course at Willis Case golf course and the newly opened 3-hole course at Wellshire golf course.

 Players Club Rules

Practice- We ask that all coaches practice at least once a week for at least one hour. The practices should be at a convenient time and location for the kids as well as the coach. The coach will need to number his/her players for each week between 1 and 8 (#1 being the most accomplished player). Players can then find their tee time by looking online under their coach’s last name and their #. Players # 1-4 play in the 18-hole tournaments on Wednesday and players 5-8 play in the 9-hole tournaments on Mondays.

Tournament play- We want all of the kids on your team to be able to play as much as possible. If you have 8-10 players please do not send a participant to more than one tournament per week unless your other players can’t make it. If you have less than four players you can do whatever you need to accomplish the goal of having four participants play in each tournament.

Coach-Junior-Junior-Junior-Junior finale- The last event on August 3rd  will be a better-ball between the four junior team member’s scramble ball and the coach’s ball. The coach is responsible for deciding which four team members to invite to play in this tournament.

Tees- All players will play from tee boxes that they will be assigned at the start of each tournament. We will take into account the players age, average score, and driving distance when assigning tee boxes.

Tee times- All tee times will be available in advance online at www.thefirstteeofdenver.com/playersclubhome.htm by the player’s last name, or the coach’s last name and the player’s number.

Stroke limit- Due to pace of play concerns there will be a stroke limit enforced at all tournaments. Every player has six shots to get the ball on the green. If the player is not on the green in six, the seventh shot will be picking the ball up and placing it on the nearest point on the green and then the player will have three putts to hole out. The maximum score that players can have on a hole is 10.

Team points- Teams will accumulate points each week by how the individual players finish in the tournaments. The player who finishes first in the 18-hole event will receive 200 points while the player who finishes first in the 9-hole 100 points. Each successive place will decrease by two points in the 18-hole event and one point in the 9-hole event. We will count each team’s top three point getters towards their total. The team with the most points at the end of the year will be deemed Players Club champions!

Prizes- Every week the top three teams will be awarded prizes at each tournament along with the top three individual boys finishers, and top three individual girls finishers.

Ties- In the case of any ties in the top individual finishers there will be a scorecard playoff. For the remaining field any ties will split the points for that place.

Green fees- Each player is expected to pay for their round of golf. 18-hole rounds cost $10.00 and 9-hole rounds cost $5.00. Payment is due at check-in before the tournament.

Markers- It is our intention to have an impartial observer with each group of players throughout the tournament series to act as a marker/marshal. These observers will monitor the players pace of play, help the players keep score, and be available to help in the case of emergencies. Anyone wishing to volunteer to help with this task (whether for one time, or throughout the series) should call Paul Crossland at (303) 370-1562.

Spectators- We will follow the guidelines of each individual course as they pertain to spectators. Spectators must sign a waiver at all City of Denver golf courses before they are allowed on the golf course. It is important to note that all U.S.G.A. rules are in effect and any violations of the rules will result in the appropriate penalties to the player. It is advised that spectators have only casual contact with the players or none at all. The best place for spectators to be is one shot ahead of the group they want to watch. The First Tee of Denver reserves the right to disallow spectators at any time. Please see U.S.G.A. rule 8-1 for further information on advice.
